De Verraders is a Dutch TV show that premiered on RTL 4 on March 13, 2021. It is produced by IDTV,[1] while Tijl Beckand hosts the show.[2] RTL ordered a second season after just the first two episodes had aired.[3]
De Verraders Videoland is a spinoff of the show that exclusively premiers on RTL's streaming service Videoland.[4]

About the Show[]
The game has eighteen to twenty contestants. The contestants of the game complete missions together to earn silver bars. Three of them are the traitors, they don't want to share the silver treasure at the end of the game and keep it for themselves. The traitors must take care not to be discovered by the other contestants, the faithful ones. Who is assigned which role is announced to the viewer right at the start of the game. The selection of these can be seen in the first episode of a season. This takes place at the round table. While everyone closes their eyes, the presenter taps three contestants on the shoulder. These three people are the traitors, the rest are faithful ones. The traitors know each other, but the faithful only know their own role and must find out the role of the other contestants by working together, watching the behavior of others and carrying out assignments.
The game continues day and night, with a faithful being secretly "killed" by the traitors each night. This contestant must leave the game. The other contestants and the viewers are told at breakfast the next morning who has been "killed". During the day, the contestants play a mission, where both the traitors and the faithful try to earn as much silver as possible. In the assignments individual trumps can also be earned, for example a shield, which protects a faithful against elimination by the traitors. In the evening the 'Council' takes place, where all contestants indicate which fellow contestant they want to banish and the intention of the faithful is to eliminate one of the traitors. The one who is expelled must reveal their role (traitor or faithful) to the other contestants. This way they will know whether they have made the right choice. In the final episode, the remaining contestants must decide how they will divide the silver won.

Trivia[]
- While the first two seasons were filmed in The Netherlands, host Tijl Beckand revealed that it was always the intention to have the show filmed in another country. He says this didn't happen until the third season due to travel restrictions during the the COVID-19 pandemic.[5]
- For the fourth season of the show, the contestants will all be made up of civillians, rather than celebrities.[6]
